There are many things that you can expect from a designer during the process and feel confident that you are being well taken care of in your design needs, but there are a few things that you should not expect from an interior designer or the design process: 1. That the designer will maintain interest in the project if you cannot make any decisions. 2. That you attend each shopping trip or be shown every possible product out there. 3. That the designer can read your mind. 4. That there will be no misunderstandings or mistakes long the way. 5. That the designer will bid out every vendor. There is a reason why the designer has been working with particular vendors. On the other hand, if you have a favorite vendor, the designer shall be accommodating. These issues are discussed to be up front and honest about the design process. The designer works to make sure the client has a clear understanding of design options, budgets, vendors, and the process, so that everything runs as smoothly and wonderfully as possible. But with everything, sometimes there are limitations in a project and there are sometimes bumps in the road that are out of the control of the designer or client. And we will work to solve any of these issues immediately and effectively, and always with open communication. Also, sometimes the original design concept changes due to limitations of budget, availability, and client's selections. When these instances arrive, the client is always approached with other options that will fit into the design scheme and always approves the changes. In some situations, the design process is a working development, where each decision is affected by the prior and carefully assessed due to limitations of space, products available, and client's budget. We like to discuss the client's budget fully to gain a better understanding of what we can actually do with the space and work to come up with the best solutions within the limitations. But whatever the limitations or issues that evolve, we will continue to work steadily for the end result, that you love your new space and that we accomplished this within your set budget and timing!!
