The Interior Designer provides services encompassing research, development, and implementation of plans and designs for environments. The process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology which is integrated with the intuitive create process, resulting in an appropriate environment suited to client's needs. In the first stage, the programming takes place. This is where the designer identifies and analyzes the client's needs and goals, also evaluating existing documentation and conditions. The designer assesses project resources, limitations, and life requirements, as well as develops project schedules, work plans, and budgets. The designer then analyzes design objectives and spatial requirements, integrates findings with experience and knowledge, and determines the needs for coordination with other professional services and makes recommendations.

Next, the designer formulates a conceptual design based on the client discussion and programming, which is the preliminary plans and design concepts that are appropriate and describe the character, function, and aesthetic of an interior project. The designer then develops the "design" for client review and approval for final interior design recommendations for space planning and furnishing arrangements; wall, window, floor, and ceiling treatments, furnshings, fixtures, and millwork, color, finishes, and hardware, lighting, electrical, and communication requirements. Also, during this time, the designer develops art and accessory programs, develops budgets, and provides presentation media (which can include drawings, interior sketches, perspectives, renderings, color and material boards, photographs, and models.)
